Bad World is a new devised musical by with lyrics by Kylie Jenifer Rose and Jennifer Provenza, and music by James Liptak and Kylie Jenifer Rose. The book is by Kylie Jenifer Rose, James Liptak, Jennifer Provenza, Rachael Singer, Michael Cavazos, Ashley Mellinger, Maya Maria Brown, and Zeloszelos Marchandt.
Inspired by a true story, Bad World follows the coming-of-age journey of Rose, an ambitious young woman who experiences a traumatic experience while exploring her identity in Paris. Upon her return to the United States, she must face how her trauma affects how she lives her life as she begins to interweave her recovery experience with that of three other survivors of sexual assault.
Bad World aspires to give a voice to the experience of survivors, and by sharing, validate the onerous journey of coping with and overcoming the past

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
KYLIE JENIFER ROSE is an actor, singer, composer, puppeteer, and dialogue coach. In the tenacious pursuit of whimsy through art, she obtained a BFA in Performance from Central Washington University. Kylie has been sharing her soul on Portland stages since 2015 at theatres including Lakewood Center for the Arts, Enso Theatre Ensemble, Theatre Berk, StageWorks Ink, Funhouse Lounge, and Crave Theatre Company, where she also serves as the Executive Director. A year spent in London studying classical theatre and regional English dialects has also given her the opportunity to work as a dialect coach with Defunkt Theatre, Metropolitan Performing Arts, and Milagro Theatre.
JAMES LIPTAK is a writer and performer with degrees in Percussion Performance and Electronics. A former music minister and choir director in the Bay Area, he has done session work for several award-winning gospel and rock performers. Now, in his career’s third act, he performs with comedy and improv groups including Portland Improv All-stars at PCS, Siren Theater, and Funhouse Lounge, producers Die Hard, The Musical Parody and Back To The Future all co-written by James. James is thrilled to be collaborating on the refreshing challenge of tackling a non-comedy. James’ most recent journey in writing is a musical based on children’s book, “Rasmus And The Vagabond” by Astrid Lindgren.
JENNIFER PROVENZA is a playwright, lyricist, author, and professor based in California. Her musical, The Sterling Affair, (for which she wrote the lyrics and libretto), was performed both at New York University and at Barnyard Theatre in CA. Her play, Nina’s Musical Ear, was done as a staged reading at San Diego’s Playwrights Project. Her one act play, The Therapy Session, was featured in the Strawberry Festival at the Riant Theatre in NYC. Other one acts, The Honeymoon, A Visit with Grandpa, If Heaven Were A Bar, and Oh, Baby! were featured in the Gone in 60 festival in Brooklyn, NY and in Leeds, England and Oh, Baby! was published in an anthology. Jennifer's novel, Life is But A Dream, was featured in the Sacramento Bee and on the radio program, Insight with Beth Ruyak. Her screenplay, Princess Daisy was produced by Organic Productions and is available to view on Amazon Prime. Jennifer studied theatre at New York University (BFA) and Brooklyn College (MFA). She is currently a professor of theatre at Folsom Lake College in CA.
RACHAEL SINGER (BROWN) is a dance and theatre instructor, choreographer and movement coach. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Rachael started dancing at the age of three studying ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and modern. She graduated cum laude from American University with a degree in theatre, business and education and a minor in dance. While in Washington, DC she performed and choreographed with Tappening and the Eldbrooke Artist Series (Joseph...Dreamcoat, Die Fledermaus). Her most recent work with the Portland theatre community includes choreography for Berk Production’s From the Ruby Lounge, Crave Theatre's Crossing and direction and choreography for Multnomah Arts Center's Fiddler on the Roof, JR and Singin' in the Rain, JR. Rachael was the co-founder of the contemporary dance group PDX Dance Collective, which had a ten year run of sold out performances, and will be directing Crave's 2020 production of Bad World. She also dances with the Skylark Tappers.
